Honey Bee Queen

She is the queen at the heart of the hive.

Surrounded by a golden halo of her own bees, she stands in a sweeping red gown with her eyes closed, savouring a quiet moment that belongs to her alone. Her fingers have just left the honey pot, and the honey runs slow and golden from her fingertips. Around her, honeycomb glows in pink, amber and gold, and pale blossoms open at her feet.

This painting is about sweetness and sensuality, and about a woman who is fully at home in her body and her desire. Like the queen bee, she doesn’t need to chase anything. Everything moves around her.
