Lady Susan, Queen of the Fairies

A portrait of my mother, as I have always seen her.

My mother is one of the most whimsical, otherworldly people I know. I'm not entirely sure she isn't a fairy, living with a foot in both worlds. In this painting she appears as Lady Susan, Queen of the Fairies, with poppies woven through her dark hair, wings of rose and lilac, and a silver moon behind her, her gown falling from her shoulders like petals.
